What is Strategy Chain?
The Premise
1. Study the best.
2. Link the strategies.
3. Clone what works.
Strategy Chain examines high-performing individuals, teams, and companies to find strategic themes with broad uses. Some favorite rabbit-holes include investing, grappling, business, combat, entrepreneurship, and athletics. Strategy Chain is all about high-stakes games that rely on strategy.
But we don't stop with the big picture.
Why?
Because on paper, goals like losing weight, investing well, and getting a better job all seem so easy! But tons of daily friction points keep us stuck. On the podcast and the blog, we attack the common trip-ups that stop us from reaching our goals by using tried-and-true strategies from all-time greats in a variety of different disciplines.
In the spirit of Mohnish Pabrai, we clone ideas that work and use them for ourselves.

About the Host
Hi—My Name is Michael Roberson
In 2019, I left finance to pursue my passion: spreading useful lessons from incredible people. Now my job is to study high-stakes games and to chain together the strategic themes that unite the best of the best.
Before launching Strategy Chain, I spent 5 years working on Wall Street. Most recently, I worked as an Associate at two buy-side leveraged credit platforms and as an Associate at an advisory boutique that served venture-capital-backed technology start-ups. I met and worked with a ton of awesome people. The process was difficult, but I learned an incredible amount about finance and about myself, and I enjoyed the journey.
Before working on Wall Street, I graduated from New York University, where I majored in Finance at the Stern School of Business. I also walked on to NYU’s NCAA Division III wrestling team, where I enjoyed regular beat-downs from my teammates, coaches, and opponents until my Junior year. I’m grateful for the experience. I wouldn’t change a thing!
